Proper fitting chest and arm pads should come down the arm to the wrist with the elbow centered into the elbow protector. Too long in the arms and the catch & block won't fit securely. Too short and the potential for injury is increased. The chest protector portion should provide full protection standing upright but not so long that in a crouching position the chest pad shifts out of position. Nothing keeps a goalie from becoming puck shy better than a good set of chest and arm pads. Choose the quality of pads equal to your game.
